Gold Coast Flathead Classic 2017 Hits 50 Teams
The 24th annual Gold Coast Flathead Classic breaks another record with 119 Anglers over 50 teams entered into the event as of March 30th 2017. This year has seen the event open up ticket sales some 3 months earlier backed by demand across social media and outlets, in 2017 the club committee listened. Making several key changes as voted by the fisherman including, changing the fishing dates from the traditional Thursday, Friday & Saturday fishing days to Wednesday, Thursday & Friday fishing days. This was due to the event timing over school holidays, boat traffic and grand final weekend for several major sporting events in Australia.
In comparison to the same ticket time on sale in 2016, 2017 has seen more than a 50% increase in early bird ticket sales for the event. With the committee financially deciding to slightly increase ticket prices in 2017 to cover costs due to increase in expenses across the event.
2017 is set to be a record-breaking year with committee member Ross Meadows saying
“I am setting high hopes to hit the 700 anglers mark, with better marketing and event awareness the hype and love for the event that punters have is part of its huge success. Being my first 12 months on the committee has seen m learn a lot about our audience and what they like to see. Interaction is at an all time high and the new Flathead Classic website has surpassed the GCSFC club website traffic numbers already in its first month by more than double.”
