2019 Top Gun Flathead Shootout
Anglers are again gearing up for the Top Gun Flathead Shootout. Now in its 7th year, the Top Gun event has become the Gold Coast Sports Fishing Clubs second most anticipated yearly tournament, with anglers paying top dollar to fish with some of the sports top Flathead fishermen.
Event founder Danny Sands, Gold Coast Sport Fishing Club Vice President, recently commented on the upcoming event, suggesting that it’s a great way to get anglers involved on how to learn and catch Flathead in all conditions.
“The Top Gun tournament was launched to encourage all flathead anglers to get on the water and fish with the top flathead fisherman in the region, learning all their tips and tricks for successfully catching Flathead”. Danny Said.
Open to all anglers the tournament kicks off with an auction night, happening next week on Friday the 9th August, where anyone can bid.
“Each Top Gun angler offers different techniques and strategies in order to catch the elusive Flathead and many are chosen for their signature offerings”.
“Some popular requests when the on water fishing starts are; how to troll properly, slapsticking for big Flathead in the shallows and what to look for on your Lowrance sounder screen” Danny also said.
The event pulls, some big names, in the past we have had anglers like David Green, the Whyte brothers, Doug Burt, Troy Dixon, Adam Barnes and the list goes on.
This is a cash tournament, last year paying over $10,000 in cash and prizes, leaving everyone happy that finished in the top 5 teams.
“The event is a great learning experience for all involved. You will come out understanding what lures to use, possible locations to fish and what to look for, something that for many pro anglers have taken years to master.”
The event is open to everyone, whether you fish with a Top Gun or not. The 2019 Top Gun Flathead Shootout is set to kickstart with the auction night on the 9th August, followed by the tournament on the 11th August.
